Burberry and Bloomingdale's light up New York: Happy Together

Burberry launches a festive holiday takeover at Bloomingdale’s 59th Street flagship in New York City – bringing its iconic heritage to life through immersive in-store and online experiences and an exclusive capsule collection with limited-edition clothing and accessories for the whole family.

Celebrating the rich heritage and creative spirit of both brands, and with the help of Burberry’s eyewear partner Luxottica and beauty partner Coty, this landmark collaboration showcases a shared passion for joy, craftsmanship and timeless style.

About Burberry and Bloomingdale's

The story of Burberry and Bloomingdale’s goes back more than 70 years. In 1954, the department store carried an exclusive version of the reversible ‘Dual Burberry’ coat, made of gabardine and Scottish wool tweed. A decade later, buyers from Bloomingdale’s travelled across the pond to select outerwear and menswear for their store. In 1991, Burberry launched its first women’s fragrance, Society, at the New York flagship – followed by trench coats created exclusively for Bloomingdale’s throughout the 1990s.

‘This festive season, we’re delighted to bring the spirit of Burberry’s British heritage to Bloomingdale’s. Celebrating more than 70 years of shared history, we are proud to collaborate with the New York City icon. Together, we are creating a one-of-a-kind experience, wrapping the façade in a larger-than-life Burberry scarf, and curating destinations throughout the store with a capsule collection that blends timeless British luxury, craftsmanship and the joy of the festive season.’

Chief Executive Officer, Burberry

Inspired by heritage

As part of the takeover, Burberry has opened a pop-up space in The Carousel at the 59th Street store – modelled as a cosy British cottage featuring a curated selection of holiday gifts. The space features an exclusive capsule collection for women, men and children in a special-edition red colourway of the Burberry Check, alongside iconic and beloved Burberry gifts including Heritage Trench Coats, signature cashmere scarves, clothing and fragrance. The limited-edition items will be available in The Carousel and all Burberry shops throughout Bloomingdale’s 59th Street, on Bloomingdales.com and in selected stores nationwide.

The scarf bar

At the heart of The Carousel shopping experience is the Burberry Scarf Bar, showcasing the brand’s signature accessory – the perfect complement to its trench coats. Scarves, ideal for gifting, will be available in an array of colours, patterns and fabrications.

Store façade and windows

The department store’s façade has undergone a striking transformation – wrapped in a larger-than-life rendition of a Burberry Check scarf, a globally recognised symbol of British style. On Lexington Avenue, the windows depict an enchanting storybook scene featuring the Burberry Knight – an emblem of the house – preparing for the holidays. Set within a quaint British cottage, each vignette blends iconic Burberry motifs, including the house’s signature check and Equestrian Knight Design, with details from classic holiday tales and traditions.

Big Brown Bag and teddy bear

Bloomingdale’s beloved ‘Big Brown Bag’ and teddy bear have been reimagined in Burberry Check, bringing British charm to these cherished icons. The bear will be sold exclusively by Bloomingdale’s, and proceeds from its sale will be donated by Bloomingdale’s to the Child Mind Institute – a non-profit organisation supporting children’s mental health initiatives.

Event

To celebrate the unveiling of the Burberry windows – and the switching on of lights – Bloomingdale’s hosted an exclusive event on November 19 with talent, VIP guests and executives from both brands. The evening featured a live show by the Grammy Award-winning artist Raye, performing both original tracks and timeless Christmas carols.

‘We’re thrilled to partner with Burberry this holiday season – a brand whose craftsmanship, creativity and heritage align beautifully with Bloomingdale’s own spirit of innovation and celebration. This collaboration represents the best of both brands – uniting two icons to create an experience that feels timeless, joyful and truly special for our customers.’
