PEOPLE: CHAMPION INCLUSION AND WELLBEING ACROSS THE COMPANY’S FOOTPRINT

We are committed to supporting our people, within Burberry and across our value chain. From protecting and nurturing luxury craftmanship skills, to driving progress towards our diversity, equity and inclusion ambitions, we collaborate closely with partners and colleagues to drive a more inclusive future where creativity can thrive.

OUR TARGETS

BECOME THE BEST PLACE TO WORK FOR WOMEN IN THE LUXURY INDUSTRY:

  • We are firmly committed to achieving gender equality across our organisation globally, with an ambition to become the best place to work for women in the industry

INCREASE REPRESENTATION AT BURBERRY:

  • As part of our strategy, we set aspirational goals to increase diversity across ethnicities in the UK and US, two of our largest markets in terms of colleague population. We also aim for our candidate and internal succession planning shortlists to have at least a 50/50 gender split and at least 25% ethnic diversity

ETHICAL TRADING:

  • Continue to ensure our responsible sourcing standards and audit requirements are upheld by partners across our supply chain
  • Extend our capacity-building programme to help our key vendors of finished goods introduce and manage their own ethical trading monitoring programmes

WELLBEING IN THE SUPPLY CHAIN:

  • Aim to extend our supply chain engagement programmes to further advance wellbeing, livelihoods, inclusivity and worker voice across our supply chain

OUR PROGRESS HIGHLIGHTS

BECOME THE BEST PLACE TO WORK FOR WOMEN IN THE LUXURY INDUSTRY:

  • Launched inclusive parental leave, bereavement and domestic abuse policies and resources.

INCREASE REPRESENTATION AT BURBERRY:

  • Designed and rolled out Demonstrating Allyship programme, creating space for colleagues to understand identity, recognise how to be an ally, and practice allyship.
  • Piloted anonymised CVs to standardised interview questions to make recruitment processes more inclusive

ETHICAL TRADING:

  • We completed 601 ethical trading audits and assessments across our supply chain in FY21/22.
  • Burberry-sponsored worker hotlines received and resolved 435 calls in FY21/22, and their resolutions were monitored closely by the Burberry Responsibility team

WELLBEING IN THE SUPPLY CHAIN:

  • Over 3,300 workers in our supply chain (across over 30 sites) participated in our Worker Wellbeing Survey (developed in partnership with Oxfam) in FY21/22

OUR COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION

Our global Diversity and Inclusion strategy is focused on valuing and embracing differences and creating an environment where everyone feels they belong, has a voice and can reach their full potential. We know that when this happens, our colleagues are more engaged, committed and effective in driving results, and we make a more meaningful contribution to the world around us.
