Burberry announces a new capsule collection that celebrates our relationship with Highgrove Gardens, which surround the private residence of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
Honouring our British heritage as a proud Royal Warrant holder, the Highgrove x Burberry collection promotes the work of The King's Foundation, a charity founded by His Majesty which acts as custodian of Highgrove Gardens, and reflects King Charles III's long-standing interest in environmental conservation.
'This new collection in collaboration with British artist Helen Bullock is the result of our strong and continuing partnership with Highgrove.'
Full of British charm, the Highgrove x Burberry collection celebrates the vibrant designs of artist Helen Bullock. Taking her cues from the natural world, Bullock has created four artworks inspired by the Kitchen Garden at Highgrove - a walled oasis where nature's design meets careful cultivation. Bullock captures the beauty of the Kitchen Garden, drawing inspiration from its trees, elegant arbours and cascading flowers - alongside its honeybees and fountain.
'The Gardens are so vast and rich it was hard to decide where to start. But I soon fell for the tangled sway of wildflowers and that special combination of dancing poppies and cosmos.'
'The strong relationship between Burberry and Highgrove continues in this fourth collection celebrating excellence in British creativity, heritage and the wonderful outdoors.'
The collection is inspired by the beauty of the natural world and honours Burberry's deep-rooted relationship with the outdoors: the main material of each piece is made from either certified wool, organic cotton or organic silk.
Burberry has also made a charitable contribution to The King’s Foundation to further enhance ongoing nature and environmental activities in the Highgrove Gardens. The charity provides access to nature for a variety of visitors and educational programmes, from specialist traditional furniture-making to sessions with community youth groups.
The supporting campaign showcases the Highgrove x Burberry collection alongside a selection of core pieces, in a series of family moments amidst the beauty of a British country house and garden. Globally renowned actors Elizabeth McGovern, Laura Carmichael and Sopé Dìrísù wear a selection of pieces in a special portfolio of portraits, shot by photographer Camille Summers-Valli.
Both McGovern and Carmichael are known for their roles in the acclaimed British series 'Downton Abbey', while Dìrísù recently played the titular character in period drama film 'Mr. Malcom's List'.
Adds Lee, 'Asking these esteemed actors to wear the collection was the best way to make the clothes come to life'.
Selected stores will come to life to celebrate the collection, with a standout window display in Qingdao, China, inspired by the work of Helen Bullock. Bespoke installations in Miami, Sanlitun in Beijing, and Regent Street, London will also feature, adorned with florals and benches reminiscent of a British country garden.
