Burberry’s ‘170: The Anniversary Portraits’ is a new campaign celebrating 170 years of the house through its signature outerwear.
The British weather influenced Thomas Burberry from the very beginning, inspiring an approach to outerwear rooted in protection and purpose. From everyday life to pioneering expeditions, outerwear has remained at the heart of Burberry’s story. Functional by design, it has become deeply personal across generations.
‘For 170 years, our outerwear has adapted to the weather and the way we dress. Each portrait is different, but together they capture individuality and self-expression.’
Photographed by Jack Day, with a film directed by Hector Aponysus, ‘170: The Anniversary Portraits’ brings together 170 individuals across London, New York, Seoul and Shanghai, offering unique perspectives on ten Burberry outerwear styles. Framed by the streets they call home, the portraits show how the same pieces take on a different character from one wearer to the next.
Street-cast locals in each city are photographed alongside personalities from the worlds of art, literature, sport and music, including Crush, Jamie Lloyd, Lila Moss, Lisa Love, Nico O’Reilly, OG Anunoby, Ruthie Rogers, Tan Yuanyuan, Xin Shuang and Yeonkoung Kim, as well as long-standing members of Burberry’s global team.
Ten outerwear designs run through ‘170: The Anniversary Portraits’. Different shapes, materials and ways of dressing for the weather.
The Long Kensington Heritage Trench Coat and Long Waterloo Heritage Trench Coat showcase the house’s Heritage Collection. The Kensington is structured, with set-in sleeves; the Waterloo has a softer line, cut to a classic fit with raglan shoulders. For men, the Mid-length Camden Heritage Car Coat is understated: single-breasted, with concealed buttons.
The iconic Burberry trench is explored further through the Leather Kensington Trench Jacket, made from richly textured burgundy nappa leather. The Long Cashmere Kensington Trench Coat takes the familiar shape into soft, insulating cashmere.
Cashmere continues in the Mid-length Hastings Trench Coat for men. Grey mélange, gently brushed, fluid and lightweight. For women, the Shearling Collar Cashmere Cape is lined in signature House Check.
House codes continue to define modern puffer jackets. For men, the Check Highlands Puffer Jacket comes in glossy nylon, its tonal check woven directly into the fabric, with a protective funnel neck. The women’s Check Ambleside Puffer Jacket brings House Check into seasonal yarn-beige, cut through with black zip taping. Both are filled with goose down and feathers, with packaway hoods.
Inspired by classic British countryside styles, quilted jackets become lighter layers for between seasons. The shearling-collared Quilted Nylon Rosedale Coat picks up elements of the trench, its check drawn through intricate stitching. For men, the Reversible Quilted Nylon Brighton Overshirt comes in lightweight shale-green nylon, reversing to reveal bold House Check.
