Burberry has awarded Christine Wilkinson the Thomas Burberry Prize for Print - one of 9 awards granted by the Royal Academy of Arts. Named after the brand’s founder, this is the second annual Thomas Burberry Prize given by the brand, reflecting Burberry’s continued commitment to supporting the next generation of British creatives in contemporary arts and culture.
The winner was selected by Burberry’s Chief Creative Officer, Daniel Lee, alongside entrepreneur and creative, Grace Ladoja, and will receive a grant of £20,000 to support their artistic practice.
In response to the theme of the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, ‘Only Connect’, the artist’s work showcased ‘WASHING MACHINE 2'.
The Thomas Burberry Prize builds on a longstanding partnership between Burberry and the Royal Academy of Arts, with this year marking the third consecutive year in which Burberry has been an official supporter of the Royal Academy of Arts’ Summer Exhibition Preview Party.
To build on this, Burberry is also proud to announce the launch of an RA Schools Scholarship Grant and Bursary, which will offer one student from the RA Schools financial support with their tuition as well as the cost of living in London.
