Our responsibility strategy is aligned to best practice standards, while contributing to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We are proud to work with a network of experts, industry bodies and partners to share learnings, drive innovation and create lasting change.
Our Responsibility agenda contributes to a range of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, where we feel we are uniquely placed to make a positive difference. We recognise the power of working in collaboration to drive real change in the industry, which is why SDG 17 runs across the breadth of our strategy enabling progress in all areas of our work. We are focused on working together with industry peers, business partners and other key stakeholder groups to find long term solutions and promote wider industry change.
Our partnerships include, but are not limited to:
We are a signatory of the UN Global Compact, the world's largest corporate sustainability initiative supporting companies in aligning strategies and operations with 10 principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. Each year, we submit a Communication on Progress, detailing actions we have taken to implement the ten principles and measured outcomes.
As a signatory to RE100, a global initiative committed to 100% renewable electricity, we promote the use of renewables in our supply chain and have created a bespoke renewable energy guide for our Italian suppliers.
We are a principle partner of the Living Wage Foundation & Global Living Wage Initiative, an organisation that encourages responsible employers to go further and pay a real Living Wage based on the cost of living, not just the government minimum.
We partner with Global Canopy, an NGO that works to protect the world’s forests, species and climate by collaborating with business leaders, scientists and decision-makers, utilising Canopy’s hot button report and working directly with suppliers and producers to ensure we only source viscose from responsible sources.
We are a member of the Leather Working Group, a multi-stakeholder organisation that aims to improve the tanning industry by creating alignment on environmental priorities, bringing visibility to best practices and providing guidelines for continual improvement. We encourage our tanneries to be audited by the Leather Working Group.
We engage with Accounting for Sustainability (A4S) - a forum which aims to inspire action by finance leaders to drive a fundamental shift towards resilient business models and a sustainable economy.
In 2019, we became signatories of The Fashion Pact, a global alliance between 32 of the world’s leading fashion companies to tackle climate change. Through the Pact, we will build on our work over the last decade to limit global warming, protect the world’s oceans and restore biodiversity.
We are a signatory to the UN’s Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action which aims to drive change across the fashion industry, with an initial goal of reducing aggregate GHG emissions by 30% by 2030.
As investors of the global Lowering Emissions by Accelerating Forest finance (LEAF) Coalition, we support the end of deforestation in tropical and subtropical forest countries. We support the LEAF Coalition’s aim of achieving its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement.
We are a member of the Textile Exchange, which is a not-for-profit organisation working to increase the global market for sustainable fibres. The organisation also aims to build on potential opportunities by developing certifiable sustainability standards for key raw materials.
We have been an active member on the Board of the ZDHC Foundation since June 2014, helping share the direction of the industry in the chemical management roadmap, including that of other brands and luxury peers, third-party suppliers and external chemical experts.
Together with more than 45 NGOs, business associations and consultancies we participate within the Science Based Target Network - a group of organizations working to shape private sector and city impacts on nature by using science-based targets.
